Diapiss

Category: Plant | Years: 0 – 0

Oarseed. Fruit and spice. Spicy watermelon. Seeds are dried and used as hot chili-like powder. Grows in very sandy ground. Common along shores and beaches. Exotic coloration, like a watermelon, but more exaggerated and with shades of purple instead of green. Some have tried to tell the future by the swirling patterns on diapiss. Fruit is sugary, watery, and strong with alcohol. Roasted seeds are the hottest spice on the planet. Are lethal in small doses, must be diluted heavily before consumption. There are people who grow up on these, and develop strong tolerances and dependencies, but still must be careful. Grows in another variety, Crum Diapiss, or Hard Oarseed, which is like a spicy pineapple. Seeds and bark are dried and used as hot chili powder. Grows in ground. Easy to grow, but must be careful because taste can spread in soil to other crops and even get into water table. In some cases this is encouraged and positive, most of the time it is a major nuisance.
